Abstract

A THz-ESR system has been developed by using both a single shot pulsed magnetic field system and a repeating pulsed magnetic field system. A single shot system has been used to generate high fields up to 40 T. The temperature of specimen can be changed between 450 K and 400 mK by using a gas-flow type cryostat, 3He and 4He cryostat systems. A repeating pulsed field system has been also used. The system is capable of generating 30 T every 2 seconds. A signal to noise ratio of the ESR spectrum has been improved more than one order of magnitude by the signal averaging. This technique provides a new way to improve the sensitivity of high frequency ESR system. Several recent examples on the application of the THz-ESR system are reported
