Abstract

The porous structure of a coordination polymer constructed from a Sm(iii) ion and a conformationally flexible ligand is modulated by guest solvent molecules. The coordination polymer containing the guest DMF molecule possesses isolated hydrophobic and hydrophilic voids, while the one containing the guest methanol molecule has a microchannel with alternately arranged hydrophobic-hydrophilic surfaces.
