Abstract

Filamentary Y123 superconductors were prepared by solution spinning and partial-melt-process. The fiber axis of the filament is normal to the c-axis of the orthorhombic phase. A transport Jc for the sample was examined in magnetic fields up to 10 T at 77 K. A current was passed to the direction of the fiber axis and was always normal to the applied magnetic field. For the direction to the fiber diameter, the Jc value of the sample with random orientation was higher than that for the sample with c-axis orientation texture. The sample with random orientation has a Jc of 104 A/cm2 at 77 K and 0 T. Although the Jc value (103 A/cm2 at 4 T) of the sample slightly decreased with the applied field, the Jc value of more than 102 A/cm2 was maintained at 10 T.
