Abstract
The tribological properties of nano-films of lubricating oils, Zdol-2000s, A2OH-2000 and tetraphenyleether, confined between mica surfaces were investigated by the resonance shear apparatus developed in our laboratory. From the resonance frequency and amplitude, the degree of ordering, traction and lubrication properties of confined liquids were obtained. The resonance amplitude for Zdol-2000s gradually decreased from 977 to 28.4 nm. Below 24.1 nm, the resonance frequency began to shift toward the resonance frequency of the mica-mica contact in air. These results can be correlated with the efficiency of these compounds as lubricating oil.
