Abstract
Terahertz-wave generation was achieved in a 4-N,N-dimethylamino-4′-N′-methyl-stilbazoliumtosylate crystal by difference frequency generation (DFG). Continuously-tunable terahertz-wave generation was demonstrated using a dual-wavelength KTiOPO4 optical parametric oscillator with a type-II phase-matching scheme. The frequency of the terahertz wave was tuned in the 0.2-1.5 Thz range by varying the KTiOPO4 crystal angle in the oscillator cavity. Maximum DFG power was obtained at 0.6 THz.
