Abstract
Spin-dependent tunneling has been investigated for nano-structured ferromagnetic tunnel junctions, in which an insulating nano-structured film made of layered hard ferromagnetic Co80Pt20 nano-particles dispersed in an insulating SiO2 or Al2O3 matrix is sandwiched between two soft ferromagnetic electrodes, Fe/Co80Pt20 as a bottom electrode and Co9Fe as a top electrode. The nano-structured films exhibited in-plane uniaxial magnetic anisotropy when MgO(1 1 0) was used as a substrate. Therefore, the junction exhibited tunnel mangetoresistance accompanied with rapid changes at coercive forces of the electrodes and the nano-particles.
