Abstract

Summary form only given. Experimental measurements on polydiacetylenes (PDA-3BCMU and PDA-4BCMU) and poly(3-methylthiophene) (P3MT) are discussed. Relaxation from photoexcited free excitons to self-trapped excitons was observed in PDA-3BCMU and P3MT. The differences in the dynamics of excitons among PDA-3BCMU, PDA-4BCMU, and P3MT are compared and explained. A model of the relaxation dynamics of photoexcitations in conjugated polymers is given to explain all the experimental data.
