Abstract
The progress in the field of a single wavelength channel optical time division multiplexing (OTDM) terabit/s transmission was described. A high speed 1.28 terabit/s OTDM transmission over 70 km was realized. A pre-chirping technique using a high speed modulator enabled the elimination of third and fourth order dispersion. The scheme used a harmonically mode-locked fiber-laser as original pulse source and a planar lightwave circuit (PLC) for optical multiplexing.
