Abstract

A method for biological tissue characterization by ultrasonic microscopy (UM) was discussed. The use of UM as a powerful tool for histopathological examination during surgery was considered. A histological specimen was prepared so as to make cross-section of the heart in thin slices and there-on studied by UM for tissue characterization using cardiac allograft model. Data acquisition and processing time are presented as important factors for practical application of the microscope to tissue characterization.
