Abstract

Material convergence is a typical phenomenon observed after a large scale natural disaster happens. Two fundamental causes of this convergence of materials are distributed donations by heterogeneous agents inside/outside the affected area and the lack of their coordination. The author proposed a matching system of relief supplies, and it is implemented on the world wide web. The social use of the matching system is to benefit society; however, in some cases, it may not be beneficial to each user. In this study, I conduct an economic experiment and investigate the conditions under which the usage of the matching system confers comparative advantages to its users.
