Abstract

Single crystals of Yb₄Sb₃ and Yb₄Bi₃ were prepared. Magnetic susceptibility, electrical resistivity, Hall effect, X-ray L_III absorption and lattice constant of these samples were measured. All these properties showed valence fluctuation of Yb²⁺ and Yb³⁺.
