Abstract

The unsteady, turbulent flowfield around a cubic model was simulated by numerically solving the three dimensional, time dependent Navier-Stokes equations. 'Large eddy simulation' is used for turbulence modelling. The Navier-Stokes equations are solved at each time interval, yielding a time history of the flowfield. The correspondence between numerical simulation and wind tunnel experiments are confirmed as very good. Results are displayed as animated graphics or as time serial illustrations, using the work station Apollo DN 550. (A)
