Abstract
UHMWPE was crystallized under molecular orientation in order to improve the wear resistant properties against Co-Cr-Mo alloys, since these two materials are used for artificial joints. We measured weight loss of UHMPWE by using a pin-on-flat reciprocating type wear machine. It was confirmed that, when the sample was compressed in the molten state, wear resistant properties of UHMWPE increased greatly with increasing degree of compression.
