Abstract

The grain-refinement effect on uniform elongation was examined in an Fe-33. wt%Mn alloy. The uniform elongation was 30% even in 0.7. μm grain size. No deformation-induced martensite and twins were observed; the significant uniform elongation was found to arise from formation of numerous stacking faults in the ultrafine-grained structure.
