Abstract

ZrO2-4mol% Y2O3 coatings onto zirconia substrate were deposited by EB-PVD. Influence of the rotation speed of substrate and porosity on thermal conductivity of coated samples was investigated. Thermal conductivity of the ZrO2-4mol% Y2O3 coatings was estimated by laser flash method. The thermal conductivity of coating layers shews decreasing tendency with increasing the porosity according to rotation speed. A nanoindentation technique for determining Young's moduli is applied to EB-PVD ZrO2-4mol%Y2O3 coatings. Young's modulus of the surface regions of the coatings is found to be higher than that of the side regions.
