Abstract
Muon spin relaxation (μSR) measurements were applied to Bi2Sr2Ca1-xYx(Cu 1-y,Zny)2O8+δ down to 26 mK to examine the existence of the "1/8 effect". Enhancement of the muon spin depolarization was observed around a hole concentration of 1/8 per Cu in the Zn-substituted samples in which the high-Tc superconductivity was anomalously suppressed. Our μSR study revealed that the "1/8 effect" was likely to exist in the Bi-2212 system also.
