N2 - The Turbojav is a throwing implement designed for training junior athletes in javelin throwing. However, it apparently exhibits significantly different aerodynamic characteristics compared with a typical javelin. To elucidate the aerodynamic characteristics of the Turbojav, wind tunnel tests were conducted with a 1-m magnetic suspension and balance system to avoid the influence of mechanical supports, which can significantly affect on a thin object. The results reveal that, at small angles of attack, the aerodynamic characteristics of the Turbojav depend on its fins and not on the attitude angle around the airflow axis.
