The piezoelectric photoacoustic spectroscopy of multilayered structures was studied both theoretically and experimentally. We calculated the one-dimensional temperature moment caused by light absorption and heat diffusion. It was found that the temperature moment is able to explain the basic feature of the photoacoustic (PA) signal of bonded Cu plates including an air gap detected by a PZT transducer attached to the back surface of the plate. The phase of the PA signal at low frequencies is very sensitive to the thickness of the air gap between two Cu plates.
