Discussing many-valued logics, Susan Haack raised suspicions that there is no need for 'extra' truth values; in fact, such systems are more intelligible when seen as involving only 'true' and 'false', with some restrictions. In this article, we present two semantic frameworks suited to ground Haack's approach to many-valued logics: one by Graham Priest, and another by Hans Herzberger. We argue that they faithfully represent both the claim that there are only two values, as well as other kinds of restrictions needed to account for the appearance of many-valuedness. We focus on some infectious logics.
