Multimodality intravascular optical coherence tomography

Intravascular optical coherence tomography (IVOCT) has become a significant modality for imaging coronary artery microstructure in the cardiac catheterization laboratory. Yet, technology improvements could be beneficial to increase its diagnostic capacity and facilitate procedural utilization. This paper reviews an important class of such advances that combines other catheter-based diagnostic techniques with IVOCT to create multimodality IVOCT imaging technologies where the whole is greater than the sum of its individual parts. Implications of multimodality IVOCT is discussed for the future of intracoronary imaging and patient care.
