(matrix presented) In the presence of GaCl₃, silyl enol ethers are ethynylated at the α-carbon atom with chlorotrimethylsilylethyne. This reaction can provide α-ethynylated aryl ketones possessing acidic α-protons without isomerization to conjugated allenyl ketones.
