Real Time Mismatch Monitoring Using Software Defined Frequency Modulation and Rate Integrating Gyroscope

In this paper, we present a software-defined frequency modulation and rate integrating gyroscope (SD-FM/RIG) using a doughnut mass resonator (DMG). A control system including CW/CCW demodulators, numerically controlled oscillators, and feedback controllers was implemented as the software in a micro processing unit (MPU). We demonstrated the independent control of two degenerated eigenmodes. Furthermore, we implemented a method to detect mismatches in the resonator based on amplitude modulation and demodulation techniques. The mismatches were successfully detected, continuously recorded for over 1 hour, and observed to shift in value.
