N2 - The amorphous alloy forming abilities of mechanically alloyed Mg(Ni1-xTx) (T=3d transition metals) were examined, and only the latter transition metals such as Fe, Co and Cu were found to form an amorphous single phase, for x=0.4. The Co- and Cu-substitution effects on the crystallization temperatures indicated that the crystallization temperatures linearly increase/decrease in proportion to the concentration of the substitutional Co/Cu. These phenomena were discussed by using a monovacancy formation model for the transition metal sites.
